POND MILLS BATHROOM MAKEOVER

BATHROOM MAKEOVER - LONDON ONTARIO

This Pond Mills bathroom makeover was completely designed in-house and provided by Peckham Professional Contracting. It features original photography and floral styling by Steve Peckham.

The project in London, Ontario, included a bathroom ‘refresher’, new modern fixtures, a new color for the vanity, lighting package, and fresh paint.

It’s proof that you don’t always need a complete remodel to achieve a dramatic transformation. Sometimes the right design choices make all the difference!

THE DETAILS

Like many well-used family bathrooms, years of daily use had begun to show. The drywall had suffered from repeated moisture exposure, and the vanity—constructed from standard MDF—had swollen and deteriorated after years of contact with water. At first glance, many would have assumed it was beyond saving and headed straight for the landfill.

Instead, I chose a different approach.

With the right techniques, careful preparation, and products designed specifically for the job, I was able to restore the vanity to an almost-new condition. Rather than replacing it, the homeowners were able to enjoy many more years from a piece that simply needed the right knowledge and attention to bring it back to life.

The ceiling presented another common problem. In a busy household of four, daily hot showers and baths created a tremendous amount of humidity. Combined with an undersized exhaust fan and paint that wasn't designed for a high-moisture environment, the ceiling was constantly developing mildew and required frequent cleaning.

Rather than simply repainting over the problem, I addressed the cause. A higher-capacity exhaust fan dramatically improved moisture removal, and the ceiling was refinished with a coating specifically formulated for humid bathroom environments. The result has been a bathroom that stays cleaner, healthier, and virtually maintenance-free—without the recurring mold issues the family had battled for years.

Sometimes the best renovation isn't about replacing everything. It's about understanding why the problems occurred in the first place, choosing better products, and applying proven methods that allow quality materials to last far longer than most people expect.

WHAT THE HOMEOWNER SAID

“We are so grateful for the work done on our bathroom, it looks amazing! We were just not able to do a full renovation, so we asked Steve to help us bring it back to life.

We trusted him to design it and he went over and above what we could have expected. The final result is better than we could have imagined”.

The artwork was a completely unexpected bonus. Steve’s photography is perfect for the space. I had no idea he was a photographer, he just suggested we put up some artwork - and wow! It feels like I’m in a spa and it’s become my favorite room in the house!
